We Are Blessed!

Today Kate got her cast off. She wore a splint for 2+ weeks and wore a cast for 3 weeks. Today she has a walking boot. She won't be walking on it yet. She begins physical therapy on Monday. Gradually she will learn how to put weight on her foot. She is very excited to shower. We took baby wipes to the doctor appointment. As soon as the cast came off the wipes came out. Kate rubbed her leg down to remove the stink and flaky skin. She has a big scab on the front of her leg where the bone almost came through. She also has a  big black circle the size of a nickel on the back of her heel. It looks kind of like a blood blister. It caused a lot of pain early on. The doctor said it will flake off eventually. We are so blessed that Kate will heal. We are grateful for great doctors!

Family Provo Temple Day

James & Jacob have decided to go to the temple this week. We are scheduled to go to the 7:20 pm session, which means that we must be in the Chapel at 7 pm. The boys of course will arrive earlier. I'm very excited for them to go! In the process for obtaining their Visas for Argentina we are still waiting on the FBI clearance. I have been told that can take up to six weeks. I hope not because we still need to get an Apostile (Official documentation that the record is authentic)   from the secretary of state before we can send it on to get the Visa. I'm not sure how long the Visa itself will take.

Other exciting news is that since the announcement made in General Conference about the age changes for missionaries there has been much excitement. It was announced that the Church regularly receives about 700 missionary applications a week. This last week they received over 4000! And its only been 2 weeks! That's an increase of 471%. In the past about 1/5 were Sisters, now over 1/2 are Sisters. A news article on the topic can be found here: Deseret News.

Catch Up

Well as you can see its been quite awhile since I last posted. In that time, Johannah married Will Drake. Tyra and Caleb Hustedt have a little son. And the Hustedt family has moved to Baltimore. Josh left on a mission in August 2012 to Washington, Everett. And James and Jacob received mission calls, James to Argentina, Rosario and Jacob to Argentina, Cordoba. They will leave in Jan 2012. I have two children living at home, many more visit regularly. I am a Masters student at the University of Utah studying Instructional Design and Educational Technology. And I teach part time at Brigham Young University and at Salt Lake Community College.

Recent events: Kate broke her leg, General Conference, Jacob had his tooth pulled, James and Jacob had fingerprints taken at the Police department.

I think this is enough to get started, more to come.
